The GM Racing Team has announced that Luca Marconi will complete its line-up alongside Italian compatriot Andrea Mantovani for the 2016 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup.

“I am very happy to be part of Mirco Guandalini’s team,” Marconi says. “For me, it was crucial to stay on a Yamaha, having seen the opportunities I had last year. I am sure that together we can achieve good results. We have put together a really good team and a good testing programme ahead of the season. It will be fun.”

Marconi made his Superstock 1000 debut last year, competing in five races for Team Trasimeno and achieving a best result of ninth place in Portugal. Previously, the now 26-year-old from Rimini was a regular in the FIM Supersport World Championship from 2011 to 2014, having begun his professional career in Italy’s CIV championship. In 2009 and 2010, he completed two full seasons in the 125 Grand Prix World Championship during the title-winning seasons of Julian Simon and Marc Marquez.
